  • The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an ambitious set of targets adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 that provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.

Lead by the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, with a whole-of-government approach, Ireland has taken on the responsibility for promoting and overseeing national implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and these goals.

On the 4th anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2019, all affiliated Chambers across Ireland announced that they had signed a pledge giving their commitment to supporting the SDGs. This involves the Chambers pledging to uphold, communicate and implement the SDGs throughout the work that they carry out.

In one way or another, almost all the Goals reflect the objectives of the Chamber network. That being said, Chambers Ireland has chosen to focus, initially, on five of the Goals that we believe we can both contribute directly towards and champion through our work in the Chamber Network.

    • Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

    • Goal 13: Climate Action

    • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

    • Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

    • Goal 5: Gender Equality
