Fingal Chamber Welcomes Official Opening of Dublin Airport’s North Runway
New runway heralds a step change in connectivity for Ireland
Fingal Chamber is delighted to welcome the official opening of Dublin Airport’s new runway which will significantly enhance Ireland’s connectivity across the globe. The new runway will provide further foreign direct investment opportunities for Ireland and will boost the local and national economy particularly in a post-COVID era.
“Dublin Airport is the economic heartbeat of Fingal and Ireland; everyone benefits from its success,” said Fingal Chamber President John O’Donoghue. “I would like to congratulate daa for delivering this important piece of national infrastructure in line with the Government’s Aviation Policy. The new runway provides significant additional airfield capacity and places Dublin Airport in an enviable position among other airports around the world. More critically it will encourage foreign direct investment and facilitate the arrival of many additional visitors across the length and breadth of the country,” he added.
According to Fingal Chamber CEO, Anthony Cooney, “Dublin Airport’s new runway is a fine example of exemplary planning as the second parallel runway was planned for in the late 1960s and, for decades the land around the airport was secured for its development. The airport is hugely important to Fingal as many residents work there, local businesses supply the airport with services, products and produce; the region will benefit further by the opening of the new runway and we very much welcome that.”
The new runway will help Dublin Airport grow to up to 40 million passengers per annum by 2030.
